Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jilin University Committee, Professor Han Xiping Leads Delegation to the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences
On April 24, 2025, during his attendance at the China–Russia Young Scholars Forum, Professor Han Xiping, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jilin University Committee, led a delegation to visit the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He met with Professor Kirill Babaev, Director of the Institute and Vice President of the Russia–China Friendship Association, and held in-depth discussions on promoting exchanges and cooperation in various fields between Jilin University and the Institute.
The leadership of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences first provided Professor Han Xiping with a detailed introduction to the Institute’s development history and academic achievements. Professor Han Xiping stated that the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia is a center for Russian Sinology research and has long made important contributions to promoting China–Russia friendship and cooperation. It enjoys a prestigious reputation in international Sinology research and international communication of Chinese culture.
During the talks, Director Babaev warmly welcomed Han Xiping and his delegation. He noted that Jilin University is the most important international partner of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Under their cooperation framework, both sides have achieved numerous internationally influential outcomes and have made significant contributions to China–Russia people-to-people exchanges. Professor Han Xiping also stated that Jilin University has long been committed to area and country studies and has achieved a series of excellent results in research on Russian issues and China–Russia relations. Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences is a major think tank in Russia for research on China and Asia issues. In the future, Jilin University will continue to actively promote pragmatic communication and in-depth cooperation between the two institutions.
During the meeting, both sides held in-depth discussions and reached broad consensus on future cooperation, including jointly organizing high-level international conferences, co-authoring research reports, and publishing each other’s academic papers.
Representatives from the Northeast Asian Studies College and the Institute for Northeast China and Northeast Asian Studies of Jilin University participated in the event.
