On November 1, 2023, the International Academic Conference on “Northeast Asian Regional Development and Security” was successfully held, jointly organized by the Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University, the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University, the Institute of North Korean and South Korean Studies of Jilin University, and Institute of International Area Studies, Kyung Hee University.

 The conference was presided over by Professor Zhang Huizhi, Deputy Director of the Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University and Director of the Institute of North Korean and South Korean Studies. Professor Wu Hao, Dean of the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University, and Professor Kim Jun-yeop, Dean of the Institute of International Area Studies, Kyung Hee University, delivered opening remarks respectively. The participants engaged in in-depth discussions on issues including regional cooperation in Northeast Asia, China–ROK trade relations and industrial cooperation, and the evolution of regional security dynamics.

This conference marked the 14th joint academic meeting since the signing of a cooperation agreement in 2010 between the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University and the Institute of International Regional Studies at Kyung Hee University. Both sides highly commended the uninterrupted academic cooperation over the past 14 years and expressed the hope of achieving further progress in areas such as joint training programs and student exchange programs.
