To help the 2024 freshmen adapt more quickly to life at Jilin University, better integrate into the Northeast Asian Studies College community, and fully demonstrate the energetic spirit of the students, the freshman welcome gala titled “Setting Sail with Youth in Northeast Asia, Embarking on a New Journey with Determination,” organized by the Graduate Student Association and Student Union of the College, was successfully held on November 27 at the Jingxin Lecture Hall. Members of the leadership team of the Northeast Asian Studies College, faculty representatives, and students all participated in the event.
At the beginning of the gala, a humorous opening video quickly ignited the enthusiasm of the audience. Subsequently, Professor Zhao Yibo, Party Secretary of the Northeast Asian Studies College, extended a warm welcome to the 2024 freshmen on behalf of the College and encouraged all students to embark on a new journey in life.
The gala was divided into three chapters. The rich and colorful performances integrated youthful vitality, patriotism and regional characteristics of Northeast Asia, covering various forms such as dance, chorus, multilingual songs, poetry recitation, crosstalk, scene play and solo, full of contemporary charm. Through more than one month of joint preparation by 2024 graduate and undergraduate students together with their instructors, the event showcased the enterprising spirit of young people in the new era. Interactive lucky draw segments between performances further encouraged enthusiastic participation from students, pushing the atmosphere to new heights.
The gala came to a successful conclusion with a chorus performance of “The Original Dream” by all members of the Graduate Student Association. The snowy night and the brilliant talents of the students jointly wove a splendid chapter of youth, original aspirations, and hope. All leaders, faculty members, guests, and staff gathered on stage for a commemorative group photo. Although the welcome gala has come to an end, a magnificent new journey for students of Northeast Asian Studies has only just begun. Let us move forward together, make great achievements in the broad stage of the College, and build a better future together.
