The International Conference on Foreign Policy Prospects of the New Administration of South Korea and the Orientation of Sino-ROK Relations successfully held

    On April 23, 2022, the Northeast Asian Research Center, Northeast Asian Studies College, and the Institute of Korean Peninsula Studies of Jilin University (JLU) successfully held an international academic conference on foreign policy prospects of the new administration of South Korea and the orientation of Sino-ROK Relations via video link.

    Professor Zhang Huizhi, Deputy Director of the Northeast Asian Research Center of JLU and Director of the Institute of Korean Peninsula Studies, presided over the opening ceremony, and Professor Wu Hao, Dean of the Northeast Asian Studies College of JLU, delivered a speech. The conference gathered nearly 20 experts and scholars from various institutions, including Korea Institute for National Unification(KINU), Sejong Institute, the Asiatic Studies Institute of Korea University, Institute of Far Eastern Studies of Kyungnam University, Department of Political Science and Diplomacy at Ewha Womans University, Institute of Korean-American Studies of Ajou University, Institute of American Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Center for Korean Studies(CKS) at Fudan University, School of Northeast Asia Studies of Shandong University, Northeast Asian Studies College of JLU, Northeast Asian Research Center of JLU. They conducted in-depth exchanges on three topics regarding the situation on the peninsula after the new administration of Korea takes office, the foreign policy of the new administration of Korea , and challenges and prospects of Sino-ROK relations, and achieved positive results.

    The issue of Korean Peninsula is a characteristic and preponderant area of international studies of JLU. The conference brought together the leading institutions and experts and scholars in the field of Korean Peninsula studies of China and South Korea, and the participating scholars gave a high appraisal to the effect of the conference and exchanges, saying that they would continue to develop the close cooperation between the Northeast Asian Research Center, Northeast Asian Studies College and the Institute of Korean Peninsula Studies to jointly boost research on related issues.
