High-End Symposium on Northeast Asia International and Regional Studies-"Structural Characteristics of the Korean Economy and the Government's Export Reinforcement Strategy: Focusing on Port Logistics and Cross-border E-Commerce" Successfully Held

    On November 3rd, 2022, the lecture "Structural Characteristics of the Korean Economy and the Government's Export Reinforcement Strategy: Focusing on Port Logistics and Cross-border E-Commerce" of the High-End Symposium on Northeast Asia International and Regional Studies was successfully held at Jilin University. The lecture was jointly organized by the Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University, the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University, the Institute of North and South Korean Studies of Jilin University, and the Special Committee for Northeast Asian Regional Studies, Academic Association for International Cultural Exchange. The lecture was held simultaneously both as an online lecture and in person. The College of Northeast Asian Studies invited Professor JOO Hye-Young from the Department of International Trade and Logistics of Chung-Ang University to give an insightful lecture. At the beginning of the lecture, the host, Professor Xuan Chunji of the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University, on behalf of Prof. Wu Hao, Dean of the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University, extended a warm welcome and high appreciation to Professor JOO Hye-Young.

    Professor JOO is currently a professor in the Department of International Trade and Logistics at Chung-Ang University of Korea. He is mainly engaged in the research on international trade and business administration and has published more than 70 articles in top management journals. In the lecture, Prof. JOO first asked the audience to re-examine the role of ports in the national economy, then introduced the characteristics of port logistics in Korea, and finally introduced the cross-border e-commerce between Korea and China and Vietnam, and discovered the differences in consumer preferences between Chinese and Vietnamese consumers through a questionnaire survey.

 

    During the question and answer session, the faculty and students both online and in person actively participated in the discussion, and the atmosphere was cheerful and harmonious. At the end of the lecture, Prof. Xuan Chunji expressed her gratitude to Prof. JOO Hye-Young, saying that the content of the lecture was significant and the participating students and teachers benefited a lot from the lecture, which provided a new perspective for the future research of the faculty and students of the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University.
