High-End Symposium on Northeast Asia International and Regional Studies-"Current Situation and Problems of Economic Globalization in Japan" Held Successfully

    On December 6th, 2022, Professor FUJIKAWA SHOGO of the Faculty of Commerce of Seinan Gakuin University, Japan, delivered an online lecture on "Current Situation and Problems of Economic Globalization in Japan” at the invitation of the Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University, the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University, the Institute of Japanese Studies of Jilin University, and the Special Committee for Northeast Asian Regional Studies, Academic Association for International Cultural Exchange. The lecture was hosted by Associate Professor Li Hongmei, Deputy Director of the Institute of World Economics, Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University  

    Prof. FUJIKAWA SHOGO is a member of Japan’s Association of East Asia Regional Studies, and a visiting scholar at the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University in China, and a former special investigator at the Japanese Embassy in Korea. His research focuses on the agglomeration of the automobile industry in Japan (Kyushu), Korea and China.

   Professor FUJIKAWA SHOGO focused on the globalization of the Japanese economy from the perspective of electric vehicle production. The lecture was divided into five parts: the first part analyzed the concepts of globalization and hollowing out; the second part introduced the situation of Japanese automakers who are shifting to electric vehicle production; the third part introduced the current situation of the Japanese electric vehicle supply chain; the fourth part introduced the future of Japanese electric vehicles; and the last part concluded with a summary.

    At the end of the lecture, Professor FUJIKAWA SHOGO had a lively exchange and discussion with the faculty members and students participating in the forum. Associate Professor Li Hongmei summarized and commented on the online lecture and expressed her gratitude to Professor FUJIKAWA SHOGO for sharing his research results.

    This academic lecture was one of the lectures in the High-End Symposium on Northeast Asia International and Regional Studies and part of the lecture series in Japanese Studies. The success of the lecture has enhanced the understanding of the Japanese electric vehicle production supply chain among the faculty and students of the College, broadened their academic horizons, and had a positive impact on the academic exchange activities between the College and Japan.
