On June 19^th, 2018 a delegation of 6 people from Kim Il Sung University of North Korea visited Jilin University and started a 3-day academic exchange.

    On June 21^st 2018 the academic seminar was successfully held in Dongrong Building. It was co-organized by the Northeast Asian Studies College, Northeast Asian Research Center, the Korea Peninsular Studies Institute and the Kim Il Sung University of North Korea. More than 20 scholars from the above institutes and School of Administration Jilin University, Jilin Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, Yanbian University and other institutes attended the seminar.

    The participating scholars conducted in-depth exchanges and extensive discussions on the three major topics of international relations between the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, economic development of the Korean Peninsula and cooperation in Northeast Asia, and relations between China and the Korean Peninsula, and explored the development of traditional friendly relations between the two countries. A broad consensus was reached on the new path of cooperation, and the meeting was a complete success.

    In 2011, the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University and Kim Il Sung University signed a cooperation agreement. This academic conference is an important result of the implementation of institutionalized cooperation between the two universities. It has effectively promoted mutual understanding between scholars of the two countries and expanded the academic influence on both sides.
