The Northeast Asian Research Center joint with the Northeast Asian Studies College to successfully hold the Sino-Korean International Academic Conference

On November 8th , 2019, the Northeast Asian Research Center, the Northeast Asian Studies College, the North Korea and South Korea Studies Institute of Jilin University and Korea Institute of National Unification (KINU) jointly held an international academic conference with the theme of "The Belt and Road and the Korean Peninsula: Cooperation Prospects and Promotion Paths." A delegation of 7 people of the Korea Institute of National Unification (KINU) and more than 20 domestic scholars from Jilin University, Shandong University, Liaoning Academy of Social Sciences, Liaodong University and Dalian University of Foreign Languages attended the meeting.

Before the meeting, Party Secretary Yang Zhenbin met with the Korean delegation. Professor Yu Xiao, Dean of the Northeast Asian Studies College, Professor Zhang Huizhi, Deputy Director of the Northeast Asian Research Center, and Director of the North Korea and South Korea Studies Institute accompanied them to the meeting. Vice President Zhao Hongwei and relevant persons from the Office of Global Engagement and the Management Office of Social Science of Jilin University attended the opening ceremony of the conference.

The conference conducted in-depth exchanges on the situation of the Korean Peninsula, the regional peace mechanism, and the Northeast Asian regional economic cooperation. Scholars from China and South Korea discussed the current progress of the Korean Peninsula issue. Fully and in-depth discussions were held on issues such as relations, the construction of the Northeast Asian Economic Corridor, and the China-South Korea+X cooperation path. It is believed that the current relaxation of the situation on the Korean Peninsula is not easy and it is facing new important modes. All parties concerned should work together to advance the region. Peace and common prosperity.

During the meeting, senior professor Wang Shengjin, director of the Northeast Asian Research Center, had a meeting with the Korean delegation. The two sides spoke highly of the continuous and in-depth exchanges and cooperation in the past 15 years, and reached a broad consensus on further promoting mutual research and higher-level cooperation programs.
