On March 7, 2023, KATAE TAKASHI, Consul-General of the Consulate-General of Japan in Shenyang, and Deputy Consul TANABE CHIKA visited the School of Northeast Asian Studies and held a formal discussion.
Wu Hao, Dean of the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University, welcomed Consul-General KATAE TAKASHI and his delegation. He introduced the development of the Northeast Asian Studies College, and the Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, the Northeast Asian Research Center, as well as exchanges and cooperation with Japan. Dean Wu Hao noted that Jilin University has a long history in country and area studies of Northeast Asia, has always attached great importance to Japanese studies and talent cultivation, and has established close cooperative ties with many Japanese universities and research institutions, dedicating itself to promoting peace and development in Northeast Asia.
Consul-General KATAE TAKASHI expressed his pleasure in visiting the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University and holding discussions. He noted that the Consulate-General of Japan in Shenyang is responsible for consular affairs in China’s three northeastern provinces, and expressed hope to further promote exchanges and cooperation between Jilin University—especially relevant schools such as the Northeast Asian Studies College and Japan.
During the discussion, both sides held in-depth exchanges on Jilin University’s research on Japan-related issues, talent cultivation in relevant disciplines, and possible pathways for Japan’s participation in the revitalization of Northeast China.
Li Meihua, Director of the Office of Global Engagement of Jilin University, and Lu Shuang, Deputy Director of the Translation Center of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jilin Province, accompanied the delegation and participated in the symposium.
