On April 23, 2026, the “Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation and the Development of the China–Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Coordination in the New Era — China–Russia Young Scholars Forum (2026)” was successfully held at Jilin University. The forum was jointly organized by the Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University, the Northeast Asian Institute of Jilin University, the Institute of Northeast China and Northeast Asian Studies of Jilin University, the Institute of Social Sciences of Jilin University, and the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and co-organized by the editorial office of Northeast Asia Forum and the Institute of Russian Studies of Jilin University. Guests and scholars from China and Russia attended the forum, including Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jilin University Committee, Yao Yuchun, Kirill Babaev (Director of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Vice President of the Russia–China Friendship Association), Natalia Prizhikova (Consul General of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Shenyang), academician Xing Guangcheng of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhao Shuxin (Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jilin Province), and Zhou Zhengchao (Deputy Director of the Jilin Provincial Department of Education). The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Qu Hongmei, Dean of the Institute of Social Sciences of Jilin University.

At the opening ceremony, Yao Yuchun, on behalf of Jilin University, Secretary of the CPC Jilin University Committee Tian Hui, and President Academician Zhang Xi, extended warm congratulations on the convening of the forum and expressed sincere gratitude to guests, scholars, and friends from both China and Russia. He noted that 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China–Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation. Under the joint guidance of the leaders of both countries, China–Russia relations have reached their highest level in history. He stated that Jilin University will take the “China–Russia Education Year” as an opportunity to continuously deepen cooperation with Russia and promote the steady advancement of China–Russia friendship. He encouraged young scholars from both countries to engage in in-depth exchanges through the forum, build consensus, and produce more high-level academic achievements.

Keynote reports were delivered by Xing Guangcheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Kirill Babaev, Director of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Professor Liu Xuelian of the School of Administration, Jilin University; Sergey Uyanayev, Deputy Director of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Professor Wu Hao, Dean of the Northeast Asian Studies Institute of Jilin University; and Professor Yana Leksyukina of the School of International Relations, Saint Petersburg State University.
Sergey Uyanayev, Deputy Director of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Professor Wu Hao, Dean of the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University, delivered closing remarks respectively, summarizing the achievements of the conference. Uyanayev highly praised the excellent presentations made by young scholars in the various sub-forums, noting that the conference provided an efficient platform for deepening bilateral academic exchanges between China and Russia, and expressed sincere expectations for further development of people-to-people exchanges and academic cooperation between young scholars of both countries in the future. Professor Wu Hao highly commended the in-depth discussions conducted by young scholars from both countries on the four core themes, pointing out that such academic exchanges not only enhanced mutual understanding and cognition, but also carried significant importance for promoting the sustained development of the China–Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination in the new era. He sincerely thanked all participants for their active engagement and expressed his expectation for more diverse forms of academic interaction in the future, jointly helping China–Russia relations reach a new level.
